Tokyo Revengers (Japanese: 東京卍リベンジャーズ, Hepburn: Tōkyō Ribenjāzu) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. The series was serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine from March 2017 to November 2022, and its individual chapters have been collected into 31 tankōbon volumes.
Set in modern-day Tokyo, Tokyo Revengers follows the story of Takemichi Hanagaki, a 26-year-old man who discovers that his ex-girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, and her younger brother have been murdered by the notorious Tokyo Manji Gang. After a sudden accident, Takemichi finds himself transported twelve years into the past — back to his middle-school days — where he vows to change the future by infiltrating the gang and saving Hinata’s life.
Blending time-travel elements with the gritty realism of youth delinquent drama, the manga explores deep themes of friendship, loyalty, redemption, and fate. Each arc delves into complex rivalries between Tokyo’s street gangs, highlighting Takemichi’s emotional growth as he confronts the violent yet brotherly world of the Tokyo Manji Gang, led by the charismatic Manjiro “Mikey” Sano and his loyal vice-captain Draken (Ken Ryuguji).
